Elegy for Organ

Organist Ann Frohbieter presented an organ recital for Holy Week, Wednesday, April 16, 2003, on the magnificent 3-manual C. B. Fisk tracker-action organ at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church in Houston.

Part of the concert was Dr. Frohbieter's world-premiere performance of the organ version of Stephen Shewan's Elegy, "God Shall Wipe Away All Tears."

The Elegy exists in three versions: the original slow movement to Steve's String Quartet No. 1 (premiered and recorded by the Ad Hoc String Quartet); the version for String Orchestra (premiered and recorded by the strings of the Moores School Symphony); and the version for pipe organ, premiered by its dedicatee, Dr. Frohbieter.
